Wayne Township’s newly elected leaders met briefly for the first time on Tuesday.
The township’s board, which includes Gordon Nash and newcomers Josh Spangle and Bruce Woodward, were sworn in.
Trustee Jeanie Stackhouse, who assumed the office at the first of the year, swore in the three board members.
The board will meet again at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 7 to review and approve the annual report for the state, which is required by Indiana law.
Stackhouse was asked by the board about her plans.
Stackhouse suggested on election night that she might not fill the position of investigative clerk, a position she held for years prior to her election. On Tuesday, she confirmed she does not plan to fill the vacancy, and would continue to do some of that work herself.
She said she wants everyone in the office to be able to do those tasks.
Spangle suggested they keep money in the budget for the position “just in case.”
Stackhouse agreed.
Nash was chosen to serve as the township board president. Spangle will be vice president. Woodward, who made the recommendations, will serve as secretary.
Woodward also filled out a conflict of interest disclosure form because he owns apartments that could potentially be home to renters who seek assistance from the township.
