SILVER LAKE -ÊNaomi Floor said she is not one to let weeds grow.

Tuesday night at the Silver Lake Town Council meeting, Floor was rewarded for her efforts to keep weeds from growing in Silver Lake Memorial Park.

"When I look out my kitchen window, I see (Memorial Park)," Floor said. "Nobody was really taking care of it. I'm not one to let weeds grow, so I started taking care of the park."

In the past four years, Floor has weeded, planted flowers and done whatever was necessary to keep the park a pleasant place to visit.

Nearly every day, Floor can be seen in Memorial Park, which consists of a gazebo, a small fountain waterfall and around 30 engraved memorial bricks. Floor works diligently to keep the park free of weeds and beautiful for all who visit.

"It isn't work, I feel, I like to do it," Floor said, holding back tears.

"It makes me tired, but I don't have to do aerobics," she added with a laugh.

Now when she visits the park, she will be able to see one of the bricks she lovingly cares for with her own name on it. The brick presented to Floor last night bears the inscription "Ken and Naomi Floor in appreciation for work and dedication in Memory Park."

Silver Lake Town Clerk Angie Glass asked Floor to attend Tuesday night's town council meeting, but did not say why.

"Angie asked me to come up here. I thought, 'Oh goodness, what did I do?" Floor said with a laugh.

Silver Lake Town Marshal Craig Hollopeter said the brick would be installed at Memorial Park Tuesday night or this morning.
