SILVER LAKE – In preparation for Silver Lake Days, the town donated $250 to the festival during their council meeting Tuesday evening.
Silver Lake Days is scheduled for June 13 through 15 with all information found at www.townofsilverlake.com
In other new business, the council voted to stay with Anthem Insurance for town employees to maintain rates at the same level.
The town also announced the spring clean-up was changed to June 1 due to the Memorial Day holiday.
In the town marshal report, Craig Hollopeter congratulated Tyler Parker on his graduation from the reserve academy and his achievement of the Jeff Shaw award, one of only three awards at the academy.
Hollopeter also recommended the town  amend the ordinance concerning grass height. He suggested lowering it from 8 inches to 6 inches due to the amount of time it takes to notify a homeowner when their grass is too high. The town will draft a new ordinance and present it to the council next month.
In the superintendent’s report, Jasun Blocher presented a bid from Vivid Scenery to purchase new trees at $450 a piece for a total of $4,500. The town approved.
A letter was presented to the council asking to have water connect/disconnect fees lowered. The town council was opposed to making changes and the ordinance stands as-is.
The council also announced it needed more time to research the closure of easements along the lake. Some citizens were upset at the announcement, but the board reassured the easements have been out of use for over 50 years and are all maintained as residents’ yards.
The board meets again on June 11 at 7:30 p.m.
