This is a follow-up letter with the remaining parts of the definition of totalitarian dictatorship. The first part was printed in the Nov. 6 edition of the Times-Union.
Definition of Totalitarian Dictatorship Concluded:
Totalitarian dictatorship can be defined as the following:
A type of government controlled by an elected or unelected ruling elite usually in the form of a single political party that -
n ruthlessly enforces the indivisibility of its territory by violently suppressing any type of legitimate or illegitimate secessionist movement whether peaceful or violent.
n eliminates independent or semi-independent local, county, state or regional levels of government, replacing them with either independent in name only local and state governments or administrative districts run directly by the national government.
n rules over a disarmed population brainwashed daily by propaganda and indoctrination from its monopoly over media outlets and schools.
n uses sham elections, hollow constitutions, mass "support the regime position's only" rallies, regime-directed citizen participation in regime-approved community organizations and "social cause of the week" activities and rubber-stamp legislatures to maintain a facade of democracy.
n needs and wants to be in constant conflict with either rival totalitarian dictatorships or the countries of the non-totalitarian world in order to maintain its hold on power.
n uses a constant struggle against real or imagined internal enemies of the state to expand and hold onto its powers.
n is willing to partner up with rival totalitarian dictatorships against their common enemy - free societies.
n ultimately desires even though it may be unable to achieve mastery over the whole human race.
The definition of fascism will follow at a later date.
