Toni Morehead, 79, of Warsaw, died at 4:07 a.m. Aug. 23, 2013, at Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester. She was born Dec. 28, 1933, in Polk, Ohio, to Lee Gordon and Leona P. Miller Miller. On Jan. 2, 1955, in Goshen, she married Glenn R. Morehead, who preceded her in death on Nov. 5, 1993. She spent most of her life in Warsaw. She was a 1952 graduate of Goshen High School, and a 1956 graduate of Ball State University, Muncie, with a degree in education. She was a freelance writer for newspapers, magazines and professional journals including the Indianapolis Star and The Paper; wrote and acted for Ken Anderson Films Production, Warsaw; wrote scripts for Bridgework Theater and Presbyterian Puppet Ministry; also wrote material for Child Protective Services of Elkhart and too many others to mention; commissioned by Huntington Hospital to research and publish its history; researched and wrote history for Cardinal Services, Warsaw; author of “Trumpet of Clay,” a biography of Grace College music director Jerry Franks; and was English teacher at the former Milford High School. She was member of Walnut Creek United Methodist Church since 1968; Warsaw’s 1988 Woman of the Year; member of Tri-Kappa Sorority; served on the board of Home Health Care Services beginning in 1980 and was instrumental in the design of the current building as well as the beginning of the Home Health Care Festival of Trees; shared her musical talents with the community as a voice instructor, choir director and soloist; she acted with the Enchanted Hills Playhouse in Syracuse, Indiana; she tutored English; served on the original board of Riverwood Ranch, Warsaw; member of the ladies nine hole golf group at Rozella Ford Golf Course; an impeccable dresser; Godly woman who was a dedicated wife and mother and a loving and giving grandma; a true “lady” who was generous, compassionate and supportive; she was a good friend; was a world traveler who loved the mountains and The Nine Quarter Circle Ranch in Montana. Also surviving are two daughters: Cynthia (and spouse Randy) Lehman, Goshen, and Ann (and spouse Barry) Kline, Warsaw; five grandchildren: Kelsey and Braden Kline, both of Chicago, Ill.;Nathan Kline, Warsaw; Kristin Myrda, Lincoln, Neb.; and Nicholas Myrda, stationed with the U.S. Navy; one great-granddaughter, Leyla Kline, at home; one sister, Sandy Biller, Goshen; and one brother, Terry (and spouse Yvonne) Miller, Silva, Mo. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Glenda Myrda, who died May 7, 2003. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. with Pastor Steve Ailes of Walnut Creek United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
