NORTH MANCHESTER – Tommy D. “Tom” Steele, 68, of North Manchester, died at 6:50 p.m. Jan. 1, 2012, in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester.
He was born June 9, 1943, in Whitley County, to Robert D. and Martha E. Overholser Steele. On March 24, 1961, he married Marieta A. Renicker, who survives.
He was a tanker truck driver for Laketon Refinery for five years, was a fire truck driver for the North Manchester Fire Department for several years and retired from Auto Transport, Springfield, Ohio, as a truck driver in 2007 after 27 years of service. He was a member of First Brethren Church, North Manchester. He was a member if Izaac Walton League, North Manchester, and Moose Lodge 1518, North Manchester.
Surviving are two daughters, Joyce (and spouse Kenny) Shepherd and Marsha (and spouse David) Kline, all of North Manchester; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and seven sisters: Carolyn Nichols, Marlena (and spouse John) Barrett, Vicky (and spouse Stephen) White, Karen Steele, Teresa (and spouse Kent) Coble and Kimberly (and spouse Jay) Vanlandingham, all of North Manchester; and Connie (and spouse Keith) Lytle, Estill Springs, Tenn.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with Pastor Kurt Stout officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
Calling is from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
