Editor, Times-Union: When standards for behavior are eliminated and morality is according to one’s conscience, expect criminals to rule society. It happened in Nazi-controlled Europe and has the potential of happening in America. Many are condemned for judging people’s conduct. North Carolina is being condemned because by law, if you are a female you must use a women’s restroom and if you are a male you must use a men’s restroom. At one time, states didn’t need to make such laws because people considered deviant wanting to use restrooms used by people of the opposite gender. But it seems the deviants are ruling society. The opposite of the North Carolina law might be called the Sexual Predators Protection Act. If you’re a woman and want to use a men’s restroom where a rapist might be, you’re not allowed to take the rapist to court if you’re raped because that would be judgemental. Maybe the rapist thinks it’s his duty to have sex with as many women as possible. Would a jury made up of non-judgemental people accept this explanation for a rapists’ behavior? Would his victim forgive him for doing something he didn’t think was wrong? A friend of mine was excited when the Supreme Court legalized gay marriages. He believed that since it was declared legal it was right. He was wrong. I could drink a gallon of vodka which might kill me. It would be wrong to do that. But it would be legal. At one time it was legal to kill Jews and homosexuals in Nazi-controlled Europe. It was evil but at times mandated by law. A century ago, mainly Democrats, were allowed to kill blacks and still are if the black life is in the womb. Today in the Middle East, homosexuals are executed for sexual deviance and non-judgemental Americans rarely complain. Many who support sexual freedom say people are going to have sex, so why stop them? If I used that logic, why should we stop a bank robbery since robbers are going to rob banks? Maybe of those who hate others should be allowed to kill them because they might want to do that if they could get away with it. Muslim terrorists would love to nuke America because they think it would honor Allah. If I didn’t want to judge them, I would have to allow our destruction. People demand tolerance. Tolerance brought down the World Trade Towers on 9/11 because the government allowed the terrorists to stay in America when according to law they should have been deported. But non-judgemental people don’t want to admit it. Maybe Satan was just misunderstood when he defied God and isn’t actually evil. But who am I to judge? Rick Badman Warsaw
