The Kosciusko County Coroner's Office has ruled the death of 3-year-old Alexis R. Avila was caused by accidental drowning.
Avila, of 8744 S. CR 700E, Pierceton, was playing outside her family's home with her 4-year-old sister when Avila ended up in a creek that runs past the home.
Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene but was unable to revive her.
She was pronounced dead at Kosciusko Community Hospital.
Indiana conservation officers, along with Sydney Fire Department and Life Med EMS, also responded to the scene.
Calling for Avila is from 2 to 8 p.m. today at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, Columbia City.
