SYRACUSE - A Kosciusko County infant died Sunday after drowning in the family pool.
Corbin Yoder, 20 months old, was discovered face-up in the pool Sunday afternoon by a sibling. Yoder reportedly was discolored but still had a weak pulse.
Syracuse EMS transported the child to Goshen General Hospital. He later was taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:50 p.m.
According to Kosciusko County Sheriff Aaron Rovenstine, the toddler was apparently with a group of children watching a movie when he wandered outside to the pool. It is unknown if he slipped or jumped into the water.
The child's parents, Eugene and Loretta Yoder, of 9728 E. CR 1050N, reportedly were chemically treating the pool previous to the accident.
Rovenstine said one child said it had been less than 10 minutes since she'd seen Corbin before he was found.
The drowning is under investigation by the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department and coroner's office.
