MENTONE – Tobie H. Blalock, 91, of Mentone, died at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 7, 2012, in Kindred Health Care Center, Bremen.
He was born May 7, 1921, in Sevierville, Tenn., to Fred and Martha Myers Blalock. On Dec. 25, 1942, in Mentone, he married Dorothy Nottingham, who died March 16, 2012.
He served in Guam as an aircraft mechanic in the U.S. Army during World War II. He then returned and began working for Manwaring Leghorn Farms for 26 years, Midwest Spring for 10 years and part-time for Ace Hardware, Warsaw, for 11 years. He was a member of Mentone First Baptist Church for the last 45 years.  He also was a member of the Mentone Lions Club.
Surviving are two sisters, Vada Barnes and Vetris Newman, both of Sevierville; two sons, Barry (and spouse Mary) Blalock, Kokomo, and Dennis (and spouse Linda) Blalock, Warsaw; a daughter, Kathy (and spouse David) McGowen, Bremen; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by five brothers: Frank, Melvin, R.J., Earl and Robert Blalock.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone, with the Rev. Michael Wilhite officiating. Burial will be in  Mentone Cemetery.
Calling is from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
