Tobias Releasing CD In Early February

Posted
For the past two years, area rock/power pop band Tobias has been working on their debut CD.

It's now almost ready for consumer consumption.

In a telephone interview from Indianapolis Tuesday afternoon, Tobias band member Jeff Purdy, formerly of Wabash, said the idea for the CD came about two years ago. Toby Tobias, North Manchester, put a recording studio in his basement. Toby Tobias, Purdy and Toby's father, Larry Tobias, decided to record some of their own music in the studio.

Larry and Jeff had played in the band CIA in northern Indiana during the 1980s.

Over the course of the last two years, Toby and Purdy came up with 11 tracks for the CD, each taking turns with lead vocals. Besides playing some of the instruments for the three-piece band's CD, Larry also did a lot of the producing and arranging on the CD, Purdy said. It was finished by November 2007.

They had the CD mastered in Indianapolis, and then shipped to California to make copies. The artwork also was also being done in California. The band is submitting the CD to a company to put all the music and artwork together.

"Fire Shadows" was chosen for the CD's title.

Once the CD is ready, Purdy said it will be available at The Noisemaker in Wabash; Hires and Tobias Auto Parts in North Manchester; Borders, Fort Wayne; and cdbaby.com online. Purdy said he hopes it will be available for purchase by Feb. 9.

By Feb. 16, Purdy said the band should have a Web site up at www.myspace.com/tobiasbandmusic

A few area radio stations will play some of the tracks off the CD, Purdy said. He said he also hopes to have it on the Cyrus radio show "Garage Band," and on the Play Network, Muzak and DMX.

The band has not set any concert dates as of yet, Purdy said.
