WINONA LAKE - Robbie Gast, of Trailhouse bicycle shop, and Eric Graves, manager of the Winona Lake bike trails, went before the council Tuesday to discuss the Fat and Skinny Tire Festival, which took place at the Village at Winona last weekend.

According to Gast, the event was a success and drew hundreds of out-of-towners into Winona Lake. Gast said event officials were happy that only a handful of accidents occurred during races and shows, and no severe injuries were suffered by riders.

"The event went off without a hitch," Gast said. "I think a lot of people had a great time this weekend and got to experience our own slice of paradise here in Winona."

"You get that many people in town and an energy is created," Brent Wilcoxson, of Winona Restoration, said. "I think it was a good thing to have."

Council members publicly thanked Gast, Graves and Wilcoxson for the organization of the event.

In other matters, address numbers are now required for all Winona residents, following the adoption of an ordinance Tuesday during the town council's meeting.

In efforts to better service residents with 9-1-1 and other emergency services, home addresses must be shown on the front lawn of properties for proper identification.

Residents not in compliance will be given notification of the new requirement and will have 60 days to conform accordingly.
