Tippy Valley Volleyball Team Moves To .500

ARGOS - Tippecanoe Valley's volleyball team upped its record to 10-10 with a 16-14, 15-3 Monday win over Argos.

The win was the fourth in a row for the Vikings, who reached .500 for the first time this season.

Rhonda Doud delivered 18 assists and 11 points, including five aces, for Valley. Brooke Fisher served eight points, including six aces. Andria Parker had eight kills and one block. Jennifer Studebaker added four kills, while Brandy Manns had two kills and four blocks.

Valley's junior varsity team improved to 8-5 by smashing Argos 15-2, 15-2.

Valley's freshman volleyball team is 6-5 after going 1-1 in a Monday home tournament. The Vikings beat Peru 15-3, 15-9 and lost to Logansport 6-15, 15-10, 15-8. Chris Sanders was 12-for-13 serving for Valley, while Kristy Rudd was 10 for 12 and Kyle Gaft 11 for 13.

Valley's freshman volleyball team won Saturday's Rochester Invitational. The Vikings beat Manchester 15-5, 15-10 in the championship match. They got there by downing Rochester 15-5, 15-10 in the first round.

Valley, 1-1 in the Three Rivers Conference, is at Caston at 6 tonight.

Warsaw 4, Concord 1

Warsaw's boys tennis team downed Concord to win its eighth match in a row on Monday.

Peter Anders stayed undefeated by winning his No. 3 singles match 6-2, 6-1 over Jim Lloyd.

Warsaw's junior varsity team won 4-1 to improve to 7-3 overall and 4-0 in the Northern Lakes Conference.

Warsaw, 9-1 overall, is 4-0 in the NLC and hosts a makeup match with Northridge at 4:30 this afternoon.

At Nappanee, Wawasee's boys tennis team improved to 11-3 overall and 3-2 in the NLC with a Monday win over NorthWood.

The 11 wins are the second-most in Wawasee's history.

The Warriors swept the doubles matches. Quyen Tran and Jared Mahnensmith won the No. 1 doubles match, and Farhan Haq and Shane Beer won the No. 2 doubles match. Steve Ummel won the No. 2 singles match for Wawasee.

NorthWood won the junior varsity match 4-1.

Wawasee hosts a 4:30 p.m. Wednesday match with Plymouth.

NorthWood has a 4:30 p.m. Wednesday match at Concord.

At Middlebury, Wawasee's girls soccer team won its second match on Monday. The Warriors are 2-8 in their first season.

"Our midfield and defense worked together real well to hold a good team like Northridge," Wawasee coach Rick Shipley said.

Wawasee hosts Plymouth at 4:45 p.m. Thursday.

JV: Warsaw 2, Wawasee 1

At Syracuse, Warsaw's junior varsity boys soccer team moved to 6-3 with a Saturday win over Wawasee.

The first half ended in a 0-0 tie. Wawasee went in front early in the second half on a Jon Olson goal. The Tigers came from behind to tie the match on a Brian Watson goal. Warsaw scored the winning goal on a Chad Fisher corner kick that was headed in by Mark Grossnickle.

Warsaw hosts a match with South Bend St. Joe at 5 this afternoon.

Wawasee, 3-2-2, has a match at 5:15 this afternoon at Goshen.
