Tippy Sewer

On Dec. 13, an information meeting was held at North Webster Community Center. This meeting was held by the LETF (the petitioners for the sewer expansion). The best information that came out at this meeting was the acknowledgement that the area the petitioners want to annex around Tippecanoe has no water safety problems. This fact alone should make their petition invalid. Every reason the petitioners gave in support of the sewer were given 13 years ago. However, a lot of pressure is being put on our county commissioners to pass this along. Why?

We now know the water quality around Tippy is OK, so this must be about something else. Could it be about million dollar contracts, worthless land becoming valuable, making new lots for more homes and more homes mean more tax revenue?

This also creates new position of power. Our county commissioners did a brave thing when they refused to take any actin on this petition. These commissioners need your support. Please call them and let them know you appreciate what they have done and that you will support them if they continue to protect you.

If they submit the petition, with or without support, to the LRSD board of trustees they will be giving an unelected group of individuals the power to force Tippecanoe property owners to pay them thousands of dollars on a bill that will never end.

There seems to be a rush to pass this petition on in the middle of winter. Could this be because most Tippecanoe property owners are gone for the winter?

I believe the first rule governing any petition should be "Do no harm." They said, "Do this for your children." And they are right, your children will be paying this bill for the rest of their lives. At least the ones that don't loose their homes because of this.
