AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley School Corp. announced a delay in the erection of its wind turbine, and a redesign for the website to view the turbine’s construction.
According to a press release, the process of erecting the wind turbine is anticipated to be delayed up to 28 days.
The delay is the result of a chemical plasticizer added by the concrete manufacturer to the second pour of the concrete foundation that has slowed the concrete curing process. Because the concrete was poured during very warm weather, the chemical plasticizer was added to keep the concrete from drying too quickly.
Consequently, the concrete will be given additional time to reach the strength necessary to begin the process of erecting the wind turbine. If the full 28 days are required, the components of the wind turbine will arrive in early October with erection to follow soon thereafter.
Another press release from TVSC states The Rochester Telephone Company has redesigned the website that allows viewers to follow the construction of the Tippecanoe Valley Wind Power Project.
The newly designed website is http://turbine.rtcol.com Digital pictures, taken every five minutes, show the process of construction from its mid July start.
