The committee overseeing cleanup of the Tippecanoe River has awarded a bid and work may begin by the middle of next month. The committee selected Gilbert Drainage and Excavating of Ligonier at a cost of $111,000 during a meeting Thursday, according to information from Nate Bosch, committee member and director of Kosciusko Lakes and Streams. Work will begin after the Oct. 10 deadline for riverside property owners to return letters of permission for access. Funding for the entire project has not yet been raised, but the $111,000 will cover cleanup of half of the 30-mile stretch of river identified as in need. Work will begin at the western Kosciusko County border, between Old 30 and Ind. 19.
