The committee in charge of Tippecanoe River cleanup opened two bids Wednesday but will need more information before it makes a decision, Kosciusko County Emergency Management Director Ed Rock said this morning. Rock said the bids, which were both around $110,000, were only $1,500 apart. He said the committee is leaning toward one of the bids but will first need more information from that company, such as its intended start date. The committee also needs to ensure “they understand the way we want it done and our process for doing it,” he said. Since both bids exceed the $46,000 the committee has on hand, he said the committee has broken the river into segments and will direct the winning bidder to start cleanup at the westernmost sections. The committee also will seek another grant to receive matching government funding. Rock said the committee will either call another meeting or announce its decision after getting the information it needs.
