The Tippecanoe Lake Country Club Ladies Bridge group has been meeting once a week, on Wednesdays, from May 1 through Oct. 1 to play bridge since 1956. The group was originally started by Anna Mellocamp, and has been going strong ever since. The Ladies Bridge group has dues-paying members, and are governed by an elected president, secretary and treasurer. Every week they also have a volunteer hostess who works closely with the executive chef to plan the weekly menu. Lunch is served promptly at noon and bridge follows from 1 to 4 p.m. The ladies can, at times, be very competitive. For example, Rosalee Spear has been the champion for the past nine years. The champions have been immortalized on the championship plaque that is predominately displayed in the bridge room at Tippy. The weekly winners are proudly posted in the Times Union and the Mail Journal newspapers for all to celebrate. The highest individual score for the year went to Rosalee Spear. Other winners were Ven Endsley, Eleanor Weyand, Mary Morgan and Myrna Conant, guest.
