Tippecanoe Valley Students Honored

AKRON - Tippecanoe Valley High School recently released the names of its valedictorian and salutatorian for 2007.

Sarah A. Tillman, daughter of Deb and Dale Tillman, Claypool, is Valley's valedictorian for the class of 2007. Salutatorian is Adam T. Weaver, son of Tom and Jill Weaver, Rochester.

Tillman is involved in FCA, SADD, Spanish Club, student government, Students and Teachers Advocating Respect and Tolerance, Peer Facilitators, Sunshine Society, Hispanic Youth Mentoring Program, student liaison for the school board, school improvement team, Challenge Leaders, Student Advisory Board, yearbook, National Honor Society, academic team, I-Safe mentor and tutoring.

Awards received include the Kosciusko County DAR Good Citizen Award, Who's Who Among American High School Seniors, National Society of High School Scholars, and the President's Scholarship from ISU.

She plans to attend Indiana State University and major in psychology and Spanish.

Weaver plans to attend Butler University and major in music education.

While a student in high school, Weaver was involved in the TVHS Viking Guard (band), Kosciusko Youth Leadership Academy, student government, drama club and musicals, The Valley Singers, The PEERS Project, 6:28 Youth Group, creative writing club, Academic Team, French Club, NHS, Olive Branch Church of God Easter Cantata, NHS tutoring and the creative writing coffee shop.

Awards he received include being a Lilly Endowment Scholarship finalist, most valuable freshman in drama, most outstanding band member for three years, academic incentive awards, outstanding math awards, and many ISSMA solo and ensemble awards.

Valley's graduation is Sunday, with baccalaureate at 2 p.m. and graduation at 2:45 p.m. in the varsity gym.
