MENTONE – Three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident at about 2:35 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of West Ind. 25 and South Tinkey Road, Mentone.
A Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department accident report states that Christina S. Farmer, 33, West Ind. 25, Mentone, was traveling west, east of South Tinkey Road, on Ind. 25 in her 2016 Jeep. Travis W. Edwards, 29, South Don Way, Claypool, was traveling east on Ind. 25, east of South Tinkey Road, in his 2001 Honda Civic.
As the two vehicles met, Edwards and his passenger, Eric R. Cody, 31, South Beehive Court, Claypool, said that Farmer’s Jeep attempted to make a left turn to exit Ind. 25 and enter a private drive. While doing so, they said Farmer’s vehicle turned in front of Edwards’ Civic. Edwards said he applied brakes in an attempt to avoid the collision but could not, the report states.
Farmer said that while she was traveling west on Ind. 25, she began to complete a left turn in an attempt to also enter a private drive at 7377 W. Ind. 25, Mentone. She said when she was completing the turn, she looked up and saw Edwards’ vehicle in her lane.
The police accident report states that “the skid marks, roadway gouge marks, along with the damage to both vehicles does not support the claim that (Edwards’ vehicle) was in the westbound lane of travel.”
Farmer complained of pain to the neck. Edwards complained of pain to the lower leg and foot. Cody had minor bleeding to the head.
