Finishing first in seven of 12 events Saturday afternoon, the Warsaw boys swim team won its fifth-straight sectional and its 13th overall. Hosting the sectional, Warsaw won the event with 445 points, holding off the Culver Military Academy Eagles, who finished second with 427. By finishing first at the sectional, individual swimmers advance to this weekend's state finals at IUPUI in Indianapolis, with first-round action beginning Friday at 6 p.m. Top four finishers in the sectional diving competition advance to Tuesday's Mishawaka Regional. Warsaw freshman Spencer Davidson had quite the inaugural sectional appearance, winning the 100 breast (1:00.27) and 200 IM (2:02.60), while also joining freshman Jayden Parrett, junior Caleb Snyder and senior Nate Stone on the first-place 200 medley relay (1:41.07). Davidson's time in the 100 breast was also a meet record, eclipising the previous mark of 1:00.57 set by Huntington North's Skyler Ruschhaupt. Parrett and senior Max Carter will also compete in two state events, as Parrett also won the 100 back (55.31), while Carter was victorious in the 200 free (1:51.02) and 100 fly (57.24). Warsaw sophomore Dean Katris also finished first in the meter dive, posting a score of 368.45, advancing him to the regional. With a top eight finish at the Mishawaka Diving Regional, Katris will join his Warsaw teammates at state, when the diving state finals prelims begin at 9 a.m. Saturday.
