LEESBURG — The sixth-ranked Warsaw boys golf team won its sixth-consecutive 18-hole tournament Monday at Tippecanoe Lake Country Club. Hosting the Bob Turner Classic, which featured 11 teams, the Warsaw Tigers shot a 304, followed in the top three by Triton’s 307 and Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger’s 308. Warsaw was led by defending state champion Tyler Ostrom’s 70, followed by Jon Schram’s 73, Bennett Hollar’s 80, Jonny Hollar’s 81 and Tim Ahlersmeyer’s 88. Triton’s Quentyn Carpenter was the match medalist, finishing the course with a 5-under 65. Also for Triton, Ryan Rapp shot a 76, Chandler Slone and Tanner Shepherd each finished with an 83 and Austin Kanarr entered the clubhouse with an 86. Warsaw’s junior varsity squald also competed, finishing with a 318, the same as 13th-ranked Fort Wayne Canterbury and Penn’s varsity teams. Warsaw’s ‘B’ team was paced by Evan Cultice’s 76, while Jared Essig shot a 78. The team’s other scores were an 81 from Viraj Gokhale, an 83 from Will Petro and an 88 out of Ryan Cultice. Tippecanoe Valley and Wawasee finished ninth and 11th, respectively. Valley’s low shooter was Teddy Shepherd with an 83, while Wawasee’s Dylan Cousins shot an 82. The six-straight wins in 18-hole tournaments is a new Warsaw record, eclipsing the 1988 team’s string of five. Triton and Valley are back in action today at Mill Creek Golf Course in Rochester, and Wawasee is also back in competition today, traveling to Columbia City’s Eagle Glen Golf Club. Warsaw is off until Saturday when it takes part in the Lafayette Jefferson Invitational.
