Tigers Top Conference Foe Goshen

With its second victory this week, Warsaw’s varsity baseball team evened its overall season record and remained perfect in Northern Lakes Conference play.
The Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 lead early in Wednesday’s game against the visiting Goshen Redskins and cruised to a 9-1 win.
Warsaw, which beat NLC foe Wawasee 6-0 Monday, is now 2-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
The Redskins scored their lone run in the fourth inning, cutting the Tigers’ lead to 3-1, but Warsaw responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning and added four more in the fifth.
The Tigers pounded out eight hits in the win, while Goshen tallied four hits.
Sophomore Tyler Lafollette was 2 for 3 at the plate for Warsaw, finishing with a double and two runs scored.
Junior Michael Miller 2 for 2 and scored one run for the Tigers.
Seniors Jason Ferguson, Jared Lemler and Taylor Berelsman and junior Caleb Moneyheffer had one hit each for Warsaw.
Ferguson picked up the win on the mound, working five innings while giving up four hits one run, one walk and striking out four.
Sylas Buller took the loss for the Redskins. He gave up seven hits, nine runs and four walks in five innings of work.
Buller led Goshen’s offense with two hits, while Deric Haynes and Tyler Slagel had one hit each.
The Tigers host NLC foe Plymouth Friday at 4:30 p.m.
