For the fifth consecutive year, Warsaw took the sectional team title, shooting a 309 Saturday at Rozella Ford Golf Course. The top three teams, as well as the top three individuals not on an advancing team, will be in the regional round Friday at Chestnut Hills in Fort Wayne.
Culver Military Academy and Tippecanoe Valley shot 316s, with CMA winning a fifth-man tie breaker to take second.
"We shot a really good front nine, a 149," Warsaw coach Bob Turner said. "On the back nine we faltered on the first four holes. Our key is we have five golfers. What always wins for us is our depth."
This was Warsaw's depth: Ryan Slone, Adam Johnson and Greg Clay, it's three, four and five golfers, shot 79, 79 and 77. In the No. 1 and 2 slots, Justin Howell and Aaron Turner shot a 74 and 83, respectively.
"The weather was a major factor," Turner said. "There were no excuses today, they were perfect conditions. I was happy (Valley coach) Roger (Moriarty) got out. I feel bad for (Wawasee coach) Don (Deck). I'd liked to have seen all three county schools get out. I'm glad we did what we did on our course."
Valley junior Drew Shafer took overall medalist honors with his 18-hole score of 72. Andy Martin (72), Brian Love (76), Anthony Domenico (87) and Brandon Eaton (90) rounded out the rest of the Viking lineup.
"Our No. 1 goal was to get out. We got lucky," Valley coach Roger Moriarty said. "We're pretty tickled. The kids are real excited."
The Vikings last advanced to the regional round in 1993.
Wawasee, a team that finished second in last year's sectional with a 318, finished fourth Saturday with a 322.
Freshman Stephen Conrad is the lone Warrior to advance, shooting a 74, the best score turned in by a golfer not on an advancing team.
Plymouth's Adam Gifford, Northfield's Jason Drafer and Manchester's Ryan Burton all shot 76s and will also advance individually to Friday's regional.
Conrad, listed in the No. 5 slot, was the only Warrior to shoot in the 70s. Senior Ryan Skaggs shot an 83, followed by Josh Abrams (86), Lucas White (84) and Kyle Lundy (81).
Among other local schools, Manchester finished fifth among the 13 teams with a score of 327. Burton's 76 led the Squires, followed by Joey Zapf (79), Evan Schenkel (88), Derek Miller (84) and Kyle Williams (93)
Triton finished the day 12th with a team score of 372. Scott Neal led the Trojans with an 88, followed by Eric Disher (89), Kevin Boyer (104) and Matt Craft (113).
Rounding out the field were Plymouth (333), Northfield (337), Wabash (353), Bremen (356), Argos (366) and Culver Community (392).
