Warsaw Community High School boys soccer coach Scott Bauer thought his team came out a little flat against the Penn Kingsmen Saturday.

The 20th-ranked Tigers certainly turned things around in the second half, scoring three goals to pick up a 3-1 win and improve to 4-0 on the season."I thought we came out a little flat in the first half," said Bauer, whose team has given up one goal through four games. "There's a lot of things we do well that we just weren't doing. Hats off to the kids, they turned things around in the second half."

The visiting Kingsmen, who fell to 1-2 on the season, took a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute when Daniel Stump assisted Corey Potosky on a goal.

"Penn is a solid club," said Bauer. "They're always well-coached. I've known (coach) Larry (McClements) for four or five years, and he does a gret job with them."

Bauer obviously does a great job with his team, too, and after a sluggish first half, the Tigers looked like a different team in the second half.

Warsaw, which has advanced to the semistate championship game the past two seasons, tied the game four minutes into the second half when Nathan Kolbe scored on an assist from Diego Lopez.

The Tigers then took the lead when Jose Rodriguez assisted Scott Smyth on a header midway through the second half.

Brody Reinholt rounded out the scoring when he scored on an assist from Jared Stout with just under 12 minutes remaining in the game.

After not giving up a goal in their first three games, the Tigers certainly responded when the Kingsmen scored against them Saturday.

Warsaw has now outscored its opponents 7-1 this season.

"My back-line is senior-laden," Bauer said when asked about his team's opponents struggling to score goals. "My outside wingbacks are strong, tall and physical. We're focused on not giving up any opportunities and keeping people in front of us."

The Tigers will be in action again Wednesday when they host Northern Lakes Conference rival Concord. The varsity game is scheduled for 6:45 p.m.
