GOSHEN — The second-ranked Warsaw boys golf team opened its conference season with a couple of wins Tuesday in Goshen. The Warsaw Tigers took on Goshen and NorthWood at Maplecrest Country Club, winning with a score of 142. Goshen finished the course with a 149 and NorthWood shot a 160 on the par-35 back nine. Goshen’s Brandon Doss’ was the top player of the course, shooting a 34. Warsaw’s Jon Schram and Bennett Hollar each shot a 35, while Eric Tandy and Tyler Ostrom each shot a 36. The 8-0 (2-0 NLC) Tigers travel to Elkhart’s Christiana Creek Golf Club today to take on Elkhart Memorial and Plymouth.

Hosting a three-team Northern Lakes Conference match at South Shore Golf Club Tuesday, the Wawasee Warriors’ 159 was short of Concord’s 157, but did beat Plymouth’s 159 based on a fifth-player tiebreaker. Concord’s Caleb Pantin had the best round of the match, shooting a 36 on the par-36 course. Wawasee was led by Luke Jackson’s 38, while Derek Zurcher had a 39. The 6-3 (1-1 NLC) Warriors are in another three-team NLC match Thursday, taking on Goshen and Northridge at Elcona Golf Club.

The Whitko boys golf team posted a 164-167 Three Rivers Conference win over Tippecanoe Valley Tuesday at Mill Creek Golf Club. On the par-36 back nine, Valley’s Kevin Summe had the low score with a 38, while Donovan Klein led the Whitko Wildcats with a 39. Whitko hosts LCA at Sycamore Golf Club Friday. Valley’s next competition is Saturday at the TRC Championships, which will take place at Rozella Ford Golf Club.

Culver Military Academy won the four-team meet with a 149, followed by South Bend Adams’ 174 and Lalumiere’s 184. LCA’s Ross Wallen and Zarek Finley each shot a 45. The Cougars will be at North Manchester’s Sycamore Golf Club Friday to take on Whitko.

GIRLS TENNIS Tuesday in Goshen
Competing in Northern Lakes Conference action Tuesday at Goshen, the Warsaw Lady Tigers prevailed 4-1. Warsaw swept the singles courts, as Alli Tucker (No. 1), Sarah Hartle (No. 2) and Elise Smith (No. 3) all won, as did the No. 1 doubles team of Carlye Bishopp and Lindsay Sciarra. Warsaw closes its NLC regular season at 6-1 going into the NLC Championships opening round Thursday at Concord. Qualifiers out of Thursday’s matches will compete in Saturday’s finals at Wawasee.
The Wawasee girls tennis dropped a 5-0 Northern Lakes Conference match Tuesday against the visiting Plymouth Lady Pilgrims. The loss leaves Wawasee with a 3-10 overall record and 1-6 final mark in the NLC. The Lady Warriors travel to Concord Thursday for the opening round of NLC Championships. Qualifiers through Thursday’s matches will then play the finals round at Wawasee Saturday.
