Tigers Complete Second ISSMA Competition

Posted
Tigers Complete Second ISSMA Competition Warsaw Community High School Tigers Pride Marching Band racked up a second winning performance against six northern Indiana high school bands this past weekend at Penn High School.

This year’s show, titled “Haka Peruperu,” is an ancient posture dance of the New Zealand Maori that was traditionally used to prepare a war party for battle.

The WCHS 60-piece marching band prepares for a musical battle each weekend.

Saturday’s performance at Penn High School in Mishawaka marked the second competition where the Tigers Pride took first place with a score of 58.4. This performance earned the band top rankings for best music, best visuals, best effect and best percussion.

At the first competition of the season, held Sept. 21, the band competed at the Concord Invitational with top awards. The band scored 51.95 to earn a first-place ranking, along with best music and best effects.

The band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday before the football game against Wawasee.

Upcoming performances are Saturday at Plymouth Harvest Festival of Bands, and Oct. 12 for the ISSMA Scholastic Prelims/Open Class Invitational, also at Plymouth.
