Warsaw boys tennis coach Rick Orban has used a different lineup in all three of the Tigers' matches this season.
He found a winning combination again Monday, as the young Tigers beat the visiting Mishawaka Marian Knights 4-1.
Warsaw, improved to 2-1 on the season, while Marian is 0-1."We're young, and even our seniors are inexperienced," said Orban, whose team fell to Penn in the season opener before scoring wins over Columbia City and Marian. "I thought we worked hard Thursday and Friday after last week's match (with Columbia City).
"I was pleased with the way we came out and got some putaways," Orban added. "We got a little lazy at times, but for the most part, the kids played hard."
En route to their 4-1 win over the Knights, the Tigers won both doubles matches and at No. 2 and No. 3 singles.
"We're looking for continuity and consistency," said Orban. "If we win again Wednesday (against Elkhart Central), these guys will really start believing in themselves. We've got talent."
At No. 1 doubles, Warsaw's Keaton Joyner and Scott Campbell beat Sam Lung and Anders Ericson 6-3, 6-2.
And at No. 2 doubles, Nick Shoemaker and A.J. Herendeen defeated Marian's Michael Amor and Marleus Creachbaum 6-0, 7-6 (7-3).
The Knight's lone win came at No. 1 singles, where Jack Julien beat Warsaw's Brenton Reyner 6-3, 6-2.
With the Tigers holding a 2-1 lead in the team score, Warsaw's Evan Miller defeated Evan Merryman 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 singles to give the hosts the victory.
In the final match of the evening to finish, and the only one to go to a third set, Warsaw's Will Anderson defeated Stephan Hicks 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
"We're looking for a singles lineup," said Orban. "Right now we've got two freshmen and a senior, and a JV player that's playing well. Tonight was big. Mishawak Marian has a good team, and they fought hard. We knew it would be a tough match."
In junior varsity action, the Tigers and Knights played to a 5-5 tie.
Warsaw is in action again Wednesday when it hosts Elkhart Central, and Thursday when the Tigers open Northern Lakes Conference action at Elkhart Memorial.
