Tiger Swimmers Win Again

With a pair of convincing wins Wednesday evening, Warsaw Community High School's boys and girls swim teams remained undefeated on the season.

The Tiger boys team had no trouble with visiting Huntington North, defeating the Vikings 125-54 to improve to 3-0.

The Warsaw girls team upped its record to 5-0 with a 108-78 win over Huntington North.

The Tigers girls took first-place finishes in eight of 12 events en route to the 30-point win and also took second in five events.

Warsaw led 69-57 after the 500 freestyle, the eighth scored event, and stretched its lead by winning the final four races.

The foursome of Alexia Hollar, Katy Taylor, Melissa Dick and Becca Noggle won the 200 freestyle relay in a time of 1:44.52, six seconds ahead of Huntington North's quartet.

The Tigers followed that win with a first-place finish by Hollar, who won the 100 backstroke in a time of 1:05.15.

Taylor then won the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:13.60 and the team of Jaylyn Haughee, Lindsday Munsch, Tracy Thallemer and Noggle won the 400 freestyle relay in a time of 3:56.75.

Other first-place finishes for the Warsaw girls team included Tara Stayer in diving (172.30), Noggle in the 50 freestyle (:26.38), Taylor in the 200 individual medley (2:22.38) and the team of Kayla Durcholz, Amanda Brown, Noggle and Thallemer in the 200 medley relay (2:02.24).

Warsaw's boys team took first-place finishes in 11 of 12 events and second in three events en route to its 71-point victory.

Huntington North garnered its only win in the boys contest in the 200 individual medley.

Senior Jason McClintock was the only Tiger to take two individual first-place finishes, winning the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:59.44 and the 500 freestyle in a time of 5:27.20, 11 seconds ahead of second-place finisher and teammate Mike Suhany.

Other indiviual first-place finishes for the Tigers came from Steve Lowrance (50 freestyle), Nate Wilson (diving), Nate Taylor (100 butterfly), Nate Long (100 freestyle), Thad Wallin (100 backstroke) and Kyle Marose (100 breaststroke).

Both the Tiger boys and girls teams will be in action again Saturday at Northern Lakes Conference foe Goshen, and then again Tuesday at NLC rival Plymouth.
