Tiger Swimmers Positioned For Sectional Title

Warsaw swimmers took top seeds in seven of 12 events at the boys sectional preliminaries it hosted Thursday night, leaving them in prime position to not only take the sectional title on Saturday, but send several swimmers to the state meet in Indianapolis.
Ethan Cook won twice, in the 50 and 100 freestyles, and Hudson Snyder is the top seed in the 200 and 500 freestyle races. Matt Wildman qualified for the finals in two events; he’ll be the top seed in the 100 breaststroke and the No. 2 seed in the 50 freestyle.
Zach Taylor is the No. 1 seed in the 100 backstroke, and will carry the No. 3 seed in the 200 IM. The 200 freestyle relay team of Wildman, Kaleb Schneidewent, Adam Doyle and Riley Newton will be the top seed on Saturday. The 400 free relay and the 200 medley relay also advanced to the championship rounds.
A total of 20 Tigers advanced to the finals on Saturday; the top eight will race for the championship and the next eight qualified for the consolation races. Two alternates were designated in each individual race.
Tippecanoe Valley’s Chase Brower qualified for the finals with a fourth-place finish in the 50  freestyle and a fifth-place finish in the 100 free.
The diving finals begin at 10 a.m. at the Warsaw pool, followed by the swimming finals at 1 p.m.
