Three Warsaw soccer players were named to the 1997 Indiana Soccer Coaches Association District II All-Star teams. Matt Brown and Brett Dickerson were named to the boys all-star team from Warsaw's first semi-state soccer team, and Bobbi Wildman was named to the girls all-star team. Boys head coach Corey Rose was named co-coach of the year, along with Fort Wayne Canterbury coach Greg Mauch.
Senior Matt Brown played goalie for the Tigers this year. He has been the starting goalkeeper for three seasons at Warsaw and has gained experience from a variety of places. He has been on the Indiana State Olympic Development Team along with the Indianapolis Inferno Club Team for three years. This year that club team was the State Challenge Cup Winner. In 1996, they placed second in the Indiana League and won the Coca-Cola Cup in St. Louis and the Cherryland Tournament. In 1995, Brown's team placed second in the Indiana League and placed second in the Warrior Tournament and won the Turkey Shoot in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Senior Brett Dickerson has been a four-year starter on the Warsaw varsity squad. He is the only four-year varsity letterman on the team. As a freshman Dickerson was named Most Promising Player, and as a sophomore he was named All-Conference Honorable Mention and Best Defensive Player. In his junior season, Dickerson was awarded all-district honors, unanimous all-conference honors and the team MVP award and was named to the ODP All-State team. This year as a senior, Dickerson was a team tri-captain and was named unanimous all-conference again. In the past four years, Dickerson has started all but four games for the Tigers. He has played club soccer with the Fort Wayne Citadel "80's" team, which won the Indiana Premier League Championship the past three years and the State Challenge Cup two of the last three years.
Senior forward Bobbi Wildman helped the Warsaw girls team to a 13-3-3 record and a 5-1 conference record. The Tigers lost in the sectional championship game. She has been named team MVP, offensive player of the year, All-Conference and a two-year captain. She scored 20 goals and had 11 assists this year on 68 shots. Wildman has been named to Who's Who Among American High School Students and was a member of the Jr. Irish club soccer team. She has been a soccer referee for the KCSL Soccer League.
