Three suspects in a string of armed robberies, including one in Silver Lake, surrendered to police Tuesday night and are now in custody.
Nicholas Greathouse, 18, Sandy Beach, is charged with armed robbery and is currently being held in Huntington County Jail on $100,000 bond. Tara A. Sharp, 19, rural Wabash, is being held on the same charge in Wabash County Jail. Christopher Alsobrook, 17, of Florida, is being detained in a juvenile facility by the Huntington County Juvenile Probation.
The semi-automatic handgun that was shown to the cashiers during the robberies was also recovered by Huntington City Police.
The Huntington Police Department is continuing the investigation.
An anonymous caller reportedly alerted police that Greathouse was possibly involved with the burglaries of the McClure Gas Station in Silver Lake early Tuesday morning and another gas station in Huntington.
The Huntington Police Department said they received a call from the Wabash County Sheriff's Department with information, and Greathouse and Alsobrook turned themselves in to Huntington Police. Sharp was later taken into custody in Wabash County.
Greathouse and Alsobrook allegedly entered the McClure's Gas Station on Ind. 15 at 12:44 a.m. Tuesday. They allegedly showed the gun and demanded cash from the register. They took an undisclosed amount of money and fled the scene on foot.
A Warsaw Police K-9 unit tracked the two across a field south of the gas station to a church parking lot where Sharp was allegedly waiting in a car.
Reports indicate the two men allegedly robbed a Huntington convenience store the same way.
