Three teens were charged Tuesday after allegedly being found in possession of marijuana.
Warsaw police received a call from the mother of a runaway telling officers that her son was in the area of Hayden's Laundry Center, North Lake Street, Warsaw.
Officers responding to the area at about 5:15 p.m. Tuesday located five teen-age boys in a driveway of a residence on West Street. One of the teens, Tristen Michael Weicht, 16, of 2703 Glad St., Warsaw, was identified as the runaway and taken into custody. While at the scene, at least two officers reportedly saw one of the teens drop something behind his back. The item was retrieved and determined to be a plastic bag containing what police believed was marijuana.
Tyson D. Hummitch, 18, of 514 W. Perry St., Warsaw, was taken into custody and charged with possession of marijuana. He was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail, with bond set at $450.
Officers then asked if anyone else had any items police should be made aware of, and Weicht reportedly admitted having marijuana in his sock. Police took possession of a plastic bag of marijuana from Weicht. He was charged with possession of marijuana and released to his mother's custody.
A third teen, Jose Pablo Patino, 17, of 3762 Old Road 30W, Warsaw, was reported to have several plastic bags of marijuana in his pants pocket. He was charged with possession of marijuana and dealing marijuana with intent to deliver. He was released to his father's custody.
Two other teens were questioned and released without charges.
