Three new faces joined seven veterans of county government during a swearing-in ceremony at the courthouse Tuesday. Kosciusko County Circuit Court Judge Rex Reed swore in the newly elected and re-elected officials, including commissioners, councilmen and his own replacement on the bench. Reed, who opted not to seek re-election, remarked on the new and returning officials before administering the oath. He admonished them to “work hard, remain true to the oath that I’ll give you in a moment (and) learn to deal with criticisms.” He also noted that “public service is a real commitment. It’s a commitment to the people who have the confidence in you to check yes by your name.” Reed told the new officials – Mike Reed, circuit court judge; Mike Wilson, county coroner; and Jon Fussle, council – that they’re joining a group of “hardcore public servants (who) have done well, and we’ve counted on them.” Returning officials are Jason McSherry, clerk of circuit court; Sue Ann Mitchell, county treasurer; Richard Kemper, county surveyor; commissioners Brad Jackson and Ron Truex; and county councilmen Bob Sanders and Larry Teghtmeyer.
