Three new people will sit on the Warsaw School Board beginning in January.
Warsaw School Board had four seats up for election this year, with two of those seats being incumbents hoping to be re-elected. But after the numbers were tallied, only one will continue on for another four years.
With 64.86 percent of the vote, 812 votes, Jennifer Tandy won the District 5 school board seat. She won over Monica Boyer, who received 236 votes (18.85 percent), and incumbent Tammy Dalton, who received 204 votes (16.29 percent).
By telephone, Tandy said she was very pleased that she won. She said it's an honor to serve district 5 on the school board, and she looks forward to being actively engaged with all the parents, schools, staff and community members. She wants to help maintain all the excellent programs Warsaw Schools has while also striving to enhance programs to improve on the schools' educational experience and competitiveness.
Tandy thanked Dalton for her many years of dedication and service as a school board member.
"I'm just very humbled to have this opportunity to serve," Tandy said. "I look forward to being on the school board."
Along with Tandy, the other two new school board members will be Matt Dick for District 1 and Dan Metzger for District 7. The current board members, Ron Yeiter and Gene England, reached their term limits and could not run for re-election.
Dick received 856 votes, while Teresa Cosgrove received 428 and Raphael Wolff received 222 votes.
"I am just honored to be selected," said Dick. "I'll just do the best to strive to serve my community, my children and the kids of all our schools," he said.
"It'll be an honor to be a part of the team," Dick said of there being three new board members next year. "We'll need to sit down and let the board members catch us up to speed. I'm anxious to sit down and get started, to get to meet them."
