LEESBURG – Three Syracuse residents were taken to a hospital Monday evening after the car they were traveling in left the roadway, rolled into a ditch and hit utility poles.
None of the injuries were life threatening, according to Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department Capt. and Public Information Officer Chris McKeand.
A spokesman for Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, where the two passengers were taken, said Dean Culbertson, 55, and Jamie Culbertson, 56, both of Syracuse, were in serious condition this morning.
The driver, John Asher, 26, Syracuse, was taken by Lutheran EMS to a hospital for shoulder pain.
Dean Culbertson had internal injuries and was taken by ambulance to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, McKeand said. Jamie Culbertson also had internal injuries and she was flown by Lutheran Air to Lutheran Hospital.
McKeand said Asher was driving a 2001 Silver Ford Taurus west on CR 700N when he failed to navigate a curve at Harper Road. The car exited the north side of the roadway, rolled into the ditch and struck the utility poles.
Damage was estimated at $5,000 to $10,000.
Assisting the KCSD and Lutheran EMS at the scene was the Plain Township Fire Department.
