MISHAWAKA – Thomas R. McCall, 71, Granger, passed away Sept. 5, 2014, at his residence with his family at his side. He was born Jan. 15, 1943, in South Bend, to Leonard and Iva Sparks McCall. On July 24, 1976, in South Bend, he married Nancy Bickel, who survives. He retired as a business agent from United Food & Commercial Workers after 15 years of service. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and drinking a couple of beers after spending day on the water or in the woods. He loved to negotiate the price of buying and refinishing antique furniture. He always had a joke in his back pocket or was known for pulling pranks on the people he loved. He was a pillar of the McCall family and also to his extended family. Also surviving are 10 children: Lisa (and spouse Chris) Rogers, Cape Coral, Fla.; Christie (and spouse Doug) Brumfield and Tom McCall Jr., all of Warsaw; Tim Holt, Elkhart; Tony (and spouse Karen) Holt, Syracuse; Ken (and spouse Tina Marie) Kaiser, Carmel; Scott and David McCall both from South Bend; and Heather Hesiben and Matt McCall, both of Granger; he was a loving and caring grandfather to 14 grandchildren: Amanda, Ashley, Kara Rogers, Nathan, Josh Holt, Kaiden Kaiser, Owen, Tege Holt, Aubrey, Megan McCall, Kristen, Marie Bowlby, Steven McCall and Emma Hesiben; five siblings: Dean (and spouse Darlene) McCall, Hurst, Texas; Ron McCall, Mishawaka; Jerry McCall, Westville; Rosetta Beal, Cassopolis, Mich.; and Don (and spouse Judy) McCall, South Bend. He was preceded in death by a son, Steven McCall; a brother, Gayle McCall; and a sister, Wanda Stedman. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Albright United Methodist Church, 504 W. Mishawaka Ave., Mishawaka, with pastors Warren Kirkwood and Mark Brock officiating. Burial is in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N.
