Thomas Lee DeanARGOS – Thomas Lee Dean, 86, of Tippecanoe, passed away Dec. 6, 2022, at 1:25 p.m. at his residence where he had been in declining health for the past year.
On May 2, 1936, in Dunkirk, he was born to Robert L. Dean and Vivian McNutt Dean. Thomas lived in Tippecanoe since 1960, having grown up in the Muncie community.
In October 1956, Thomas married Martha J. Hartley; she preceded him in March 1962. He then married Julia A. Bailey; she preceded him in September 1996.
Thomas worked for Panel Craft for several years before starting his own business, Custom Aluminum, and for nearly 30 years he installed awnings and siding.
He was a former member of the Plymouth Moose Lodge and a frequent visitor of the Bourbon American Legion Post #424. He had a wonderful sense of humor and once commented, “The only thing he was great at was being a great-grandpa.”
Thomas is survived by his daughter, Jenny Kadis, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; sons, Darrell L. Dean and wife Joanne, of Warsaw; and Alan L. Dean and companion Debbie Warner, of Plymouth; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert E. Dean and wife Mary, of Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents, wives and son, Wesley L. Dean.
Per Thomas’s wishes, a celebration of life graveside service will be held at Walnut Church of the Brethren Cemetery on April 8 at 11 a.m.
An open house will follow from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Bourbon Matchett Center, 805 N. Harris St., Bourbon. Join the family for Thomas’s favorite BBQ and share a story or two.
