Thomas L. Hoover, 73, of Chesterfield, Mo., died Aug. 4, 2012, surrounded by family and friends following a 10-month battle with pancreatic cancer. He was bor– May 20, 1939, i– Warsaw, to Robert T. and Jea– Thompso– Hoover. He married Becky Schultz, who survives. Gaining recognitio– as a– Indiana all-state high school basketball player, he graduated from Mentone High School i– 1957, and the– continued his educatio– at Purdue University o– a basketball scholarship. He later enlisted i– the U.S. Army, where he achieved the rank of corporal and was a jumpmaster i– the 82nd Airborne Division. Upo– completing his service i– the military, he worked i– several sales positions i– Indiana, Alabama and Missouri, before settling i– St. Louis and becoming president and owner of ABC Moving and Storage, a– Atlas Va– Lines agent, i– 1972. He also served as a director o– the Atlas World Group Board from 1988 to 2010. A– avid golfer, he was a match play champio– for the Gateway (Missouri) Sectio– of the PGA i– 1987, and wo– numerous tournaments as a member of the Boone Valley Golf Club i– Augusta, Mo. I– June 2010, he was named to the inaugural class of inductees for the Kosciusko County Basketball Hall of Fame. Also surviving are a daughter, Kelly (and spouse A.J.) Alaboudi, St. Louis; and a brother, Greg (and spouse Jenny) Hoover, Louisville, Ky.
