WABASH - Thomas O. Helvey, 72, of rural Wabash, died at 3:35 p.m. July 25, 2010, in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He was born May 6, 1938, in Wabash County, to Cuba and Mabel Ebbinghouse Helvey. On Nov. 12, 1955, in Liberty Mills, he married Sue Ihnen, who survives.
He was a self-employed truck driver and owned H&I Trucking Co. since 1986.
Also surviving are four daughters: Karen (and spouse Kevin) Bechtold, North Manchester; Tammy Losher and Janet Lewis, both of Urbana; and Angie (and spouse Todd) Kline, Wabash; nine grandchildren; a great-grandson; three sisters: Elaine Messman, Torrance, Calif.; Imy Rittenhouse, Bippus; and Norma (and spouse Len) Suckle, Scottsdale, Ariz. He was preceded in death by two brothers and sister.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash, with Pastor Ed French officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
