FORT WAYNE - Thomas Edward Kitch, 64, died June 2, 2009, in Coventry Meadows, Fort Wayne.
He was born Sept. 16, 1944, in Fort Wayne, to John D. and Geneve Kruse Kitch.
He retired as a lieutenant detective for the Kosciusko Sheriff's Department after 27 years of service. He attended Bishop Luers High School and Xavier University. He was active with the Wawasee Lake Patrol until his retirement in 2002.
Surviving are two brothers, Terry (and spouse Norine) Kitch and Dan (and spouse Sarah) Kitch, all of Fort Wayne; four nephews, John D. (and spouse Catherine) Kitch III, William (and spouse Ashlie) Kitch, Mike (and spouse Leslie) Kitch and Chet (and spouse Karese) Kitch, all of Fort Wayne; four nieces: Elizabeth (and spouse Cory) McCarty, Seattle, Wash.; Geanine (and spouse Shannon) Morgan and Kerry (and spouse John) Burda, all of Fort Wayne; Colleen (and spouse Christopher) Dumelle, Chicago, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A private graveside service will be at a later date.
