ALEXANDRIA - Thomas "Dago" Thompson, 68, Alexandria, died March 5, 2009, at Veteran's Administration Medical Center, Marion, after an extended illness.
He was born Aug. 18, 1940, in Alexandria, to Clarence C. and Alberta "Boots" Hull Thompson.
He lived in the Silver Lake area most of his life, recently returning to Alexandria.
He served with the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1962. He retired on disability from Delco-Remy, formerly of Anderson, after 10 years. He was a member of Warsaw VFW Post 1126 and Alexandria Eagles 1771.
Survivors include four sons: Jerry (and spouse Holly), Jeff (and spouse Brenda), Tommy (and spouse Emily) and Samuel Thompson, all of Alexandria; a daughter, Beverly (and spouse Jim) Carpenter, Veedersburg; two brothers, John (and spouse Karen) and Steven (and spouse Pam) Thompson, all of Alexandria; two sisters, Florence (and spouse Henley) Humphrey and Betty (and spouse Charles) Cooper, all of Alexandria; 11 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; two stepchildren, Lawrance (and spouse Debbie) and Bonnie Flannery, all of Silver Lake; and three step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the IOOF Cemetery, Alexandria, with Pastor Lyn Childers officiating. Military rites by Elwood VFW Post 5782 Honors Team.
Calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Noffze Funeral Home, Alexandria. The Alexandria Eagles Lodge will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home, which will close the visitation hours.
