SYRACUSE – Thomas D. "Tom" Mehl Sr., 85, of Milford, passed away at 1 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019, at his home.
He was born on May 20, 1934, in Middletown, Ohio, to Douglas A. and Elda Smallwood Mehl.
He attended Cromwell High School and lived most of his life in the Cromwell, Ligonier, Syracuse and Milford areas. He was married on Dec. 31, 1951, in Ligonier, to Marcile V. “Marty” Yoder, who survives. He retired in 1984 from Serenade Foods in Milford after five years and was formerly employed at Barth Motor Homes in Milford for 20 years.
He was a former member of the Moose Lodge in Goshen.
He is survived by wife, Marty Mehl, of Milford; two daughters: Vicki (Ray) Neff, of Milford; and Gloria Jean (Dave) Moody, of Milford; son, Thomas (Sue) Mehl Jr., of Milford; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jim (Dee Ann) Mehl, of Ligonier.
He was preceded in death by his parents; great-granddaughter, Lillian Grace; two sisters, Shirley Lower and Lois Ritter; and two brothers, Bill and David Mehl.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26 in the funeral home with Pastor Lee Compson of the First Brethren Church in Milford officiating. Burial will take place in the Milford Cemetery.
