Editor, Times-Union: No doubt the party system has failed us. What started out to be a balance of thinking now finds that thinking to be “all or nothing.” Such divisiveness has resulted in elections not being about choices, but about keeping the “upper hand.”
Elections appear not to be in the best interest of a community, or a nation, but whether they are designated “red or blue.” More often this lends to totalitarian rule, as evident in Warsaw. We become devoid of thinking about what’s needed for the community, but instead what’s wanted in the interest of the “inner circle.” If we aren’t prepared to vote a third party in Warsaw, how can we expect to do any better in Washington?
