AKRON – The third Friday jam in Akron is this Friday. The music starts at 7 p.m. in the Akron Community Center located east of Akron and north on Ind. 14. Bring your acoustic instruments and sit-in with the group or just come to listen to the sounds of bluegrass, country, folk and gospel music. Coffee and juice will be provided. Bring a snack to share. The “Dixie Mudbugs” will be playing cool Dixieland Jazz July 26 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in downtown Akron. The band “God’s Country” will be on stage playing country, old-time rock and roll and energetic gospel music Aug. 2. Bring a chair and enjoy the music. Artist, author, comedian and motivational speaker Brett Eastburn from Tyner will present his comedy show Aug. 3 in the Akron Community Center. Eastburn was born without arms and legs and yet he declares in his new book – with the same title, “I’m Not Missing Anything!” The book will be available for sale and Eastburn will sign copies. Admission is by donation. The program is designed for those 12 and older. No small children. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. with guest comedian Frank Roche. The Akron Chamber of Commerce will provide refreshments.
