A third candidate has entered the race for Kosciusko County commissioner.
Teresa Cosgrove, 62, has filed paperwork with the county Republican Party, which will hold a caucus next month to fill the void created when middle district commissioner Ron Truex resigned.
Cosgrove, a veteran of the U.S. Army, said she gained an interest in getting involved in the early days of the Tea Party, which rose to prominence during President Barack Obama’s administration.
She said her main concern is making sure county finances are fiscally responsible.
She said her only other foray into running for public office came when she once ran for Warsaw Community School Corporation school board.
She lives in West Haven Estates just west of Warsaw.
Truex was in his fifth term as commissioner when he realized he and his wife had unknowingly moved outside of the district.
The other two candidates vying for the opening are Cary Groninger and Sheal Dirck.
A Republican caucus will meet at 7 p.m. Nov. 8 at the courthouse to choose a replacement. Deadline to submit paperwork with Kosciusko County Republican Party Chairman Mike Ragan is 7 p.m. Nov. 5.
Paperwork should be filed with the county clerk of Circuit Court.
