NORTH MANCHESTER – Thelma L. Beery, 96, of Claypool, died Jan. 5, 2019, in Sutter Lakeside Hospital, Lakeport, Calif.
She was born Oct. 1, 1922, in Darke County, Ohio, to Elmer Drew and Ida May Fritz Drew. She was married to Dale B. Beery on March 14, 1945. He died Aug. 17, 2007.
She attended Taylor University and received her nurses training at the Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Manchester College.
She worked as a registered nurse for 52 years and was employed with McDonald Hospital in Warsaw, Murphy Medical Center in Warsaw, Mason Health Care and Grace Village, and was a nurse to Dr. Baum for 12 years. She retired in 1995.
She was a member of Extension Homemakers of Kosciusko County; was active in United Methodist Women, both local and district; and was a member of Packerton United Methodist Church and Claypool United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her sons: Paul (Kathie) Beery, Claypool; Douglas (MarLou) Beery, Larwill; and Leon (RoxAnne) Beery, Mentone; daughters, Aseneth Wilson, Warsaw, and Marie Beery, Kelseyville, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded by two brothers and two sisters.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, in Claypool United Methodist Church, 302 E. Section St., Claypool. Pastor Mike Settles will officiate.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.
