In October, professional theater company Theatreworks USA presented "If You Give A Pig A Pancake" at the Warsaw Community High School Performing Arts Center.
On Jan. 29 at 7 p.m., Theatreworks returns to the WCHS PAC to present "Junie B. Jones".
The show is being presented by WCHS and Zimmer.
"Junie B. Jones" is a musical based on the books by Barbara Park.
According to a press release, "Outspoken, precocious and lovable Junie B. Jones stars in a colorful, funny, fast-paced musical about new friends, new glasses, sugar cookies, the annual kickball tournament and other various first-grade angst-ridden situations. Follow her adventures as she writes down the story of her life in her 'Top-Secret Personal Beeswax Journal.'"
The musical is based on four volumes in Park's "Junie B. Jones" series of books, which are illustrated by Denise Brunkus and published by Random House. Those books include "Junie B, First Grader (at Last!)"; "Junie B, Boss of Lunch"; "Junie B, One-Man Band"; and "Top-Secret Personal Beeswax: A Journal by Junie B (and Me)".
"Junie B. Jones" is a musical by Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich. The production is directed by Peter Flynn and choreographed by Devanand Janki. The scenic design is by Luke Hegel-Cantarella, and the costumes are by Lora LaVon.
This 60-minute musical is recommended for audiences 5 years old and older.
In 2006, the show was nominated for the Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Musical and Outstanding Choreography.
After a brief New York City-area tour in spring 2004, "Junie B. Jones" premiered Off-Broadway at the Lucille Lortel Theatre in July 2004, and is now one of Theatreworks USA's most popular productions.
"Junie B. Jones" began its national tour in fall 2004, and a second national touring company began touring in spring 2005. The show returned for engagements at the Lortel Theatre in November 2005 and March 2008.
The six actors and stage manager touring with "Junie B. Jones" rehearsed for two weeks in New York City with the director and choreographer. Once the tour begins, the actors and stage manager typically arrive at the performance venue early in the morning to set up the scenery and to prepare for the performance. Following the show, they pack the set, costumes and sound equipment into two large vans and drive to the next city.
