Posted
Once again, the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Orchestra is returning to Warsaw to present its Holiday Pops concert.

Now in its 67th season, the orchestra will perform at 2 p.m. Dec. 19 at the Warsaw Community High School Performing Arts Center. This is the only Lakeland Community Concert Association concert not at Rodeheaver Auditorium in Winona Lake.

The orchestra has been part of Fort Wayne's musical heritage continuously since its debut in October 1944. It expanded its concert programming during the 1945-46 season, presenting 14 programs with pianist William Kappell, violinist Yehudi Menuhin and tenor Mario Lanza among the guest artists.

Its 480 orchestra and chamber ensemble performances are attended by more than 220,000 people, according to information provided by LCCA.

With Philharmonic Associate Conductor Bradley Thachuk at the podium, Act I of Holiday Pops will open with "Home for the Holidays" and "Let It Snow," two longtime favorites; "The Bells of Christmas" and Act I concludes with selections from "The Nutcracker." Act II will bring more holiday favorites with "I'll Be Home for Christmas," "Sleigh Ride," "O Holy Night" and a Christmas sing-along. Holiday Pops features talented soprano Elizabeth Kay Piercy, who has performed with Celebrity Cruise Lines and maintains a popular voice studio in Fort Wayne.

Now performing its 67th season, The Fort Wayne Philharmonic's mission is to inspire and foster a lifelong love of classical music through performance and education. The Phil is led by Music Director Andrew Constantine. The Phil is a member of the League of American Orchestras and a funded member of Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne, the Indiana Arts Commission and National Endowment for the Arts.
