Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m., the Symphony of the Lakes combines forces with two local dance studios to present a free performance of Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker.” This will take place at the Performing Arts Center at Warsaw Community High School. Dancers from Deb Collier’s School of Dance and the Lee Anne Stewart Dance School will join the symphony in presenting some of the most famous dances. This includes the “Waltz of the Flowers”, “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy”, “Waltz of the Snowflakes” as well as the “Russian Dance”, the “Arabian Dance” and the “Chinese Dance”. The choreographers for this event include Kristina Crane, Courtney Brown, Meghann Wood, Lee Anne Stewart and Janae Stewart. Some of the many dance soloists will be Miranda Moss, Sarah Mills, Alexis Laureano, Henry Robison and Francie Sheets. The orchestra will be conducted by Dr. Patrick Kavanaugh. The Nutcracker performance will be proceeded by a “Christmas Carol Singalong,” accompanied by the orchestra, and led by Arturo Osorio. This gala Christmas event is free and open to the public. Families are particularly encouraged to attend. For more information, visit www.SymphonyogtheLakes.com
